Most breast cancer causes are beyond control. Age, sex, and heredity play very important parts. As a general rule, the risk of getting breast cancer rises with age. Men have a lower risk of developing breast cancer than women. Inherited risks are also strong in five percent of breast cancer cases.

Other breast cancer causes can be directly related to diet. Obesity after menopause can increase risk, as can an increase of the intake of animal fats. Breast cancer causes can also be related to excessive alcohol intake, not only the quantity of alcohol, but also the length of time over wh1ch it was consumed.
Continually increased levels of estrogen and estrogen receptors are also one of the breast cancer causes. These hormonal levels are thought to be a signal for breast cancer to begin developing.

Some other breast cancer causes are purely environmental. Tobacco smoking and increase risk of breast cancer have been associated, as well as those exposed to second hand smoke. h1gh-dose ionizing radiation of the chest, typically a treatment for other forms of cancer, has been correlated with breast cancer causes.

Breast cancer causes are hereditary, environmental, and diet related. There are many known breast cancer causes that increase risk, but no direct causes known.
